Your name: Taryn Pearson
How long have you been working at PetFirst: Soon to be 5 years
Pets at home (name, age, species, breed): Cupcake, 8 years-old, cat; and Sadie, 5 years-old, black Labrador retriever
What is your role at PetFirst? Director of Human Resources – I love when I am at recruiting events because people love talking about their pets, and how they wish they had pet insurance… its easy to get them to our booth.
What did you do before working at PetFirst Pet Insurance? I was a People Services Manager (HR) for Service Net Warranty for nearly 12 years.
What attracted you to come work at PetFirst? I was excited about coming to work at PetFirst because I enjoy working in a small to mid-sized company where I can see the impact of my work.
What is one of your favorite things about working at PetFirst? Despite the fact that I am a department of one, I never really feel like I am a department of one. I love that I have so many co-workers who are willing to help me out with ideas, events, job fairs, whatever it might be. We have a true team atmosphere at PetFirst and that is something that I love about my job. Plus, who can resist cute dogs and kittens in the office!
What is your ultimate dream job? Travel Critic. I traveled extensively as a child and teenager and traveling is still one of my favorite things to do. Traveling the world while getting paid sounds like fun to me!
What is your life motto? The Golden Rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”
What was your first pet, and what was their name? My first pet was a dog named Tuffy. He was a Springer Spaniel mix and was very beautiful. I remember being very excited as a 4 year-old to drive with my parents from Indiana to Ohio to pick up our new puppy from my Aunt and Uncle’s house. Tuffy was part of my family through my teenage years.
Are you a dog or a cat person? Depends on my mood! My cat is laidback and self-sufficient so I like that about him. However, if I’m going out for a walk, I love the company of my dog who can never get enough attention.
If you were an animal, what type of animal would you be and why? Any animal that gets to hibernate in the winter.
What is your most memorable animal or pet experience? My most memorial pet experience was surprising my daughter for her birthday with her first dog, Sadie.
If you’re not working, where can you usually be found? I can be found running around with my two daughters whom are nine and twelve. We spend a lot of time on the soccer field, at the basketball court and at tumbling class. I am their biggest fan, of course!
